(Woburn, MA) - November 6, 2003 –A Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT]-led team has been awarded a $3 billion contract to provide information technology services to the Department of Veterans Affairs and to other Federal agencies through the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Global Information Technology Support Services (VA GITSS) program. The eight-year VA GITSS program, one of the largest information technology services contracts in Federal government history, will support the design, implementation and operation of the Department of Veterans Affairs nationwide Enterprise Architecture along with meeting the other information technology needs of the VA through the use, under this contract, of the best IT companies in their respective specialties.
GITSS services include: IT systems integration; IT systems implementation and operations; information assurance, security and survivability; legacy system migration; storage systems and services design, implementation and management; electronic records management and preservation; web design and development; IT strategic planning and assessment; contingency operations implementation; electronic commerce support and software development.
