The World Bank Selects Image Fortress For Long-Term Digital Archiving

– Image Fortress Corporation, a leader in electronic records archiving services, has been awarded a multi-year contract by the World Bank, an essential source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world, to utilize the company’s digital archiving services.

Image Fortress will provide its DigitalFortress™ electronic records archive service to provide for the effective long-term digital preservation and electronic archiving of the World Bank’s extensive volumes of Web content.

DigitalFortress service automatically captures all electronic files that are to be archived, regardless of file format (including e-mails and their attachments), automatically extracts and organizes all file metadata, protects the digitally archived files from the effects of subsequent digital format changes or format obsolescence, guarantees the absolute integrity of every archived file (down to the bit level), and provides real-time access to a customer’s digitally archived files.

“To our knowledge, Image Fortress is the only company that offers a comprehensive online service that addresses the full range of vulnerabilities to which digital files that must be retained for extended periods of time become susceptible,” said Bob Pokress, cofounder and CEO of Image Fortress. “Our unique family of digital archiving services is designed, specifically, to protect customer electronic files from the extensive set of complex and insidious problems associated with long-term digital records and file retention,” Pokress said.

“We are delighted that the World Bank, after conducting an international search and evaluation, has selected Image Fortress to provide digital archiving services for the online content of its numerous World Bank agencies which operate hundreds of Web sites across the globe," said Pokress. “This contract reflects this important international financial institution’s confidence in the capabilities our company has introduced to insure the secure long-term preservation of an organization’s most vital electronic documents and records.”

“The World Bank relies on its Web sites to provide effective communications in support of its financial services missions to developing nations,” Pokress said. “By using Image Fortress's services, the World Bank will be able to ensure that the extensive volume of content that resides on all of its Web sites is thoroughly and properly preserved for future access. Most importantly, the World Bank will be protecting itself from the potentially catastrophic vulnerabilities to which digital records and files, and now Web content , are susceptible when these files need to be preserved and accessible for years or decades, or in the case of the U.S. National Archives, for the life of the Republic."

The World Bank joins other prominent commercial and government organizations who are Image Fortress clients including the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration and the U.S. General Services Administration.
